A group of senior Product Managers at Schneider Electric were given the task of building a small team that would create a set of core technologies to be leveraged and extended for building the innovative Futuristic Applications for Schneider.
The team needed to have expertise in the area of Machine Learning / AI / Data Analytics, as well as, have solid experience in building technologies that could be used as kernel-frameworks for multiple applications. A team that would aggressively build the product out - a team that would be able to match the speed that was envisioned.
Leaders at Schneider Electric also knew how other partners operated - that was a strict no no. They needed somebody who'd be able to work at the same pace. Also the team had to be multifarious with knowledge in areas such as Machine Learning, Mathematics, Programming, User Experience, multiple programming languages like Python, C#, JavaScript Frameworks, SQL. Clearly, it was difficult to form a team with such varied expertise in a short time.
They were to build technologies and applications from scratch where right business problems had to be identified, solutions found and validations performed with users. The team had to be extremely efficient, agile, with a laser-focus on user needs, User Experience (UX) and one that would bring-in original thought-process to solve problems along the way.
The WonderBiz Team was involved from Day 1 of a Proof Of Concept for this Product. As the expanse of the Product became apparent, it was clear that a much bigger team would be needed. The initial team that had participated in the POC soon became pillars of the product. More team members were added both on the App side as well as the Core side.
Core needed advanced features to be supported. While the App side had to productise the functionality exposed by the Core. It was a two fold straddle that the team has continued to do ever since. At the peak, this 15 people team has been working for the last 4 years steadily building functionality and getting ready for the market.
The Full Team needed by the Customer has been proudly shoveling away at Features and Functionality demanded by the Market. With several innovations (also in the form of patents filed) the team continues to do everyone proud. They’re probably in their final laps of being closer to what the end-users want to see. Newer demands, newer integrations, newer non-technical challenges, every single day and the team has never let Stakeholders down.
The rigor and discipline of what it takes to follow processes and methodologies to make it happen at a Product Dev level have all been ingrained in the Team by now. Like a well-oiled machinery, they know their jobs and are focussed to maximize efforts for the Customers.
