A team in Foxboro, Schneider wanted to work on a different concept and take it to the market. They had seen customer interest in creating an aggregated dashboard for Plant Operations and wanted to replicate it in the form of a product. But doing that was going to be no easy job. Firstly, all different systems and subsystems had to be connected and integrated. The heterogeneous data from those systems had to be harmonized and built into a single data lake so that retrieval and subsequent analysis could be easier to perform. Then, the dashboards themselves would have to be configurable so as to let the users pick and choose elements of interest for their business operations. And all of this would have to be accomplished in less than a year!

The WonderBiz team was constituted. Technology evaluations started. Some initial code was put in when the global pandemic struck with a full lockdown. The team stayed put and continued operations from home. Asking the right level of questions to Stakeholders, they crossed one bridge after another till the product started showing up. At its peak, the 8 Dev Engineer team plus a Test Engineer worked for a year and a half on this product. No Code / Low Code frameworks were used for the first time here around along with Workflow Engines.

The product was ready to be tested out in end Customer environments. Of course, it had to pass through trial-by-fire to nail down the Application Security aspects. Also, since this was a data-heavy / data-centric application, the product went into the direction of becoming a little bit complicated. Eventually, User Experience had to be simplified considerably. Also, this product opened up a series of cross-sell opportunities for the Offer Managers, potentially much more increasing the value that was delivered.
